after reading chapter 1 of I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris again,
there are few lessons learned that I would like to share with fellow Christians out there.
1. God's amazing love for us at the cross provides both the example and the power for us to love others.
2. We used to be controlled by what felt good, but now, as new creations, we're to be controlled by God's love.
3. We can no longer live for ourselves - we now live for God and for the good of others.
4. Every relationship for a Christian is an opportunity to love another person like God has loved us - to lay down our desires and do what's in his/her best interest.
5. Make God's Word, not our feelings, the guide.
6. Our love is to be shaped by God's love - looks beyond personal desires and the gratification of the moment, looks at the big picture of serving others and glorifying God.
7. God wants not just physical purity, but also purity and blamelessness in our motives, minds and emotions.
8. We are unworthy sinners whom God chose to rescue and forgive. This is love.
When you stop seeing people of the opposite gender as potential boyfriends/girlfriends and start seeing them as brothers/sisters in Christ, you'll discover the richness in true friendship.
When you stop worrying about whom you're going to marry and trust in God's timing, you'll uncover the incredible potential of serving God as a single.
When you stop flirting with temptation in one-on-one dating relationships and start pursuing righteousness, you'll uncover the peace and power that come from purity.
